Cleaning your dog’s bowl, even if it seems like a trivial task, is actually extremely important for their health.
Never underestimate the importance of bowl hygiene. That’s why I created Gentle Mint, a solid soap made from natural and effective ingredients.
Yes, the bowl should be cleaned every day, just like we wash our dishes and utensils after cooking and eating.
I also want to point out that the best materials for bowls are usually ceramic and stainless steel. Plastic bowls, being easily worn out, could facilitate the growth of bacteria.
It’s really necessary to think about cleaning your dog’s bowl, especially if they eat wet food or follow a homemade diet (based on raw meat and so on).
All bowls should be washed: even the water bowl. Additionally, the water should be changed several times a day, especially in warmer seasons, to keep it fresh and clean.
This daily routine will help eliminate saliva biofilm or food particles from the last meal, fungi, and other microorganisms that could cause infections or irritations, usually located around the chin area.
The Gentle Mint soap has 3 main ingredients, let’s look at them together.
Coconut oil, an ingredient with many properties – widely used in cosmetics – is also a great degreaser capable of removing grease and stubborn dirt from bowls.
Lemon essential oil, added to the formula for its strong antibacterial properties, making it an excellent cleaner.
Peppermint essential oil, which not only removes dirt and bacteria from bowls but also leaves a fresh and delicate scent.
It might be tempting to simply wipe the bowls with a damp cloth or rinse them under warm water, but this won’t solve the problem. To eliminate bacteria, help prevent dog diseases, and keep them safe from unwanted pathogens like Salmonella and Escherichia Coli, pet bowls need to be cleaned properly.
How to clean the bowl with Gentle Mint soap?
- Take the bowl and discard any food residues.
- Soak the bowl in hot soapy water. If necessary, let it soak for 10-15 minutes to dissolve any stubborn food particles.
- Use a dish brush or sponge, scrubbing well.
- Wipe the bowl with a cloth and let it air dry for the rest of the time.
Gentle Mint soap, besides the above use, can be used to hand wash toys, silicone placemats, or other fabrics that come into contact with your dog, such as the ear cloth, eye pad, and glove available in my shop.
The product is of botanical origin and therefore will be gentle on your hands as well. It will leave a fresh and invigorating scent of gentle mint, from which it gets its name.
