During the winter months, it’s always important to remember that our dogs’ needs change as the temperatures drop.
Winter often means adventures and walks in the snow, and even though once home everyone is warm, maybe on the couch or by the fireplace, we must not neglect the health of our dogs’ paws.
During the coldest months of the year, it’s always best to check your dog’s paws and dry them thoroughly after being outside, as damp or frozen paws can be very uncomfortable for your dog, even causing joint stiffness.
Additionally, the rock salt used on roads and paths can irritate their paws.
That’s why I created the winter paw balm, to create a protective and waterproof barrier before exposure to snow, ice, and rough terrains.
A dog’s paw pads are naturally resilient, but they can still be damaged by cold, rough terrain, road salt, and other surfaces. Once the pad surface starts to crack, it can be difficult to heal, and the cuts could even lead to infection.
Proper and adequate use of the winter balm can indeed prevent all this and help your dog. Simply apply the balm on the pads and between the toes, just before exposure to snow, ice, and rough terrains.
If, for example, you’ve gone on a mountain trip, the balm should be applied right when you arrive at your destination, just before your dog sets foot on the ground.
After the first application, the balm should be reapplied every 2/3 hours and depending on the activities you do with your dog. This will improve the coverage and effectiveness of the product, for safe and ideal protection.
What I aim to formulate with each of my products is multifunctionality: in fact, every Pippotheweim product, including the winter paw balm, has multiple practical and healing functions.
The balm not only isolates from the cold but also actively intervenes, thanks to the presence of tea tree oil, blocking the proliferation of bacteria where there are already wounds before applying the balm itself.
Before using this balm, during mountain trips with Pippo, Bella, and Riva, I often used a very commercial one that unfortunately wasn’t 100% natural.
From there came the desire to offer an alternative that was on par in functionality but better in terms of ingredients.
If you’re looking for a balm that at least isolates properly, you should know that what can never be missing are at least these two ingredients: natural wax + zinc oxide. If they are not present together, the product will not be snow or ice-proof!
